Tummy Tuck - What You Need To Know

Tummy Tuck surgery needs to be thought through very carefully and before you decide that a tummy tuck is right for you, we’ll offer you a private consultation with Dr Saliba.

In this consult, Dr Saliba will get to know you, and what you are looking to achieve. The consultation will also equip you with the information that you need in order to make an informed decision as to whether surgery is the right course of action for you

What is tummy tuck surgery?

A tummy tuck is a surgical operation, carried out under general anesthetic where your stomach is reduced, often through the removal of fat, and then any excess skin that is seen is also reduced to ensure there are no visible signs of tummy flap

What should I consider?

Medicare does not cover the cost of this surgery and you should consider your personal financial circumstances, as well as others before agreeing to this procedure.

What happens during surgery?

Dr Saliba creates a small cut in the stomach area, removes excess fat via liposuction and then removes any excess skin as a result of the procedure and reduction of fat. Her goal is to minimise any scarring from the incision. You will be asleep during the surgery, and our anesthetist will monitor how your body is coping with the anesthesia. After the operation is complete, you will be moved to the recovery area, to start your recovery

How long will my tummy tuck last?

You will see an immediate benefit after the effects of your tummy tuck operation have subsided, such as swelling. It is difficult to say how long the procedure will last, and will depend upon lifestyle choices and future weight gain

Are there any risks with breast enlargement surgery?

All surgery has an element of risk involved. The surgery will be performed under general anesthetic. Lifestyle, weight, and smoking status will alter the risk profile of anesthetic. You will be monitored throughout your operation though. there is also a risk from the surgery. Please discuss your individual case directly with Dr Saliba and she will advise you accordingly.

Is there any downtime?

You can expect to stay in hospital over night after your operation. Assuming there are no signs of infection, and that you can go home next day, you will be advised that recovery would take normally between 1 and 2 weeks. Dr Saliba will advise you for your own particular circumstances and type of operation

What should I do next?

We insist on seeing all patients for a detailed consultation as a first step. Please call 1300 255185 and arrange to book your private consultation with Dr Saliba at either her Brighton Le Sands, Campbelltown, or Fairfield clinics.
